Barcelona’s Mercat de La Boqueria

Mercat de La Boqueria

La Boqueria is perhaps the most touristed market in Barcelona. Located on La Rambla, it is chock full of delicious sweets, fresh meats, smoothies, peppers, and all sorts of goodies. Why say in words what I can illustrate with photos? Enjoy!

La Boqueria is an amazing market in Barcelona. You must go. Here are a few things to note if you’re planning a visit:

1. Watch your things. While Barcelona is high on the muggings scale, the market is a particular target since it is always crowded. Someone at my hostel was sprayed with water in the market and then they swiped her purse. So just watch your things.

2. The seafood people yelled at me. Everyone was very friendly about my taking photos, but the seafood people just wanted me to get out of the way.

3. The chocolates are expensive! I photographed a particular stand, and the owners were very friendly. In return I thought I should just buy a couple of chocolates, and hey, it might be nice to taste a few of those decadent looking treats! I picked out just a few of them, and it cost 7 Euros. Perhaps it’s best to window shop!
